Troubleshooting
Q: The special Smart Web Printing toolbar icons have disappeared.
- Browser plug-in support may have been turned off. Select Tools > Internet Options and click the Advanced tab. Make sure the Enable third-party browser extensions (requires restart) option is checked. Smart Web Printing technology is not available unless this option is checked. Some corporate policies may not allow the use of third-party browser plug-ins or extensions. This option is also sometimes turned off to prevent spyware and other malicious software from functioning. Restart the browser after exiting the Internet Options dialog box if you make a change to this option. You do not have to restart your computer.
- You or someone with access to your computer may have customized the browser toolbar and removed the buttons. Right-click the toolbar, select Customize, and add the Preview button.
Q: I selected an image to put in the Clip Book, but only part of the image is displayed. What happened?
A: Some images may be too large to fit on a clip book page. You may be able to copy the image to your local drive and then edit it using an image software package such as Paintbrush or Picture Manager.
Q: I installed Web Smart Printing, but nothing happened.
A: You need to close your web browser and reopen it for the Web Smart Printing to complete its installation. When you reopen your browser, the Smart Web Printing start-up window will be displayed in the right pane. You can then view a demo and start using Smart Printing!
Q: I’m viewing a PDF file on my browser, but when I attempt to copy the information using the Smart Selection mode, I can’t view the menu and select Clip to copy the information to the Clip Book. What am I doing wrong?
A: The Selection Mode does not work while viewing PDF files.
Q: I can no longer cut and paste text in my browser. Did Smart Web Printing disable this feature?
A: While the Smart Selection Mode is active, the program is expecting you to select an area on the website to drag and clip. To perform the standard cut-n-paste feature, temporarily turn off the Smart Selection Mode by toggling the
button on your taskbar. You will know that it is inactive when it is no longer highlighted.
